  • Of course, if you do have a Windows CD, you can reset your password the easy way with a simple trick. Note: this should work on all versions of Windows, but if you are running Windows 8 or 8.1 and also using a Microsoft Account to login to your computer, you’ll need to reset your Microsoft Account password using a web browser on their web site.
  • I don't know if you notice but they remove repair disc from windows 8.1 'They only have the recovery as far as I know USB' but, may work with the install CD/ISO for the disc but,my ISO doesn't work. When I said my ISO doesn't work meaning, The repair disc Utility only. Windows 8.1 is install and working but again.

Let me preface by saying I'm 90% Mac, but when I need windows I've come to really like 8.1 pro. Touch works great on my surface pro 2, Yes it takes a little learning curve on both, especially a non touch laptop, but is very stable. It's quick, predictable and I find very few problems when running standard apps and or software that's not easily negotiated in the mac world.Short version, if you're doing photography and video work Mac is your platform. If you're doing large spreadsheets (5K lines or greater) the native function of office in windows can't be beat.I use both on my new MacBook Pro and Mac Pro via parallels and am happy.

Tried the latest version of windows 10 and was immediately unimpressed. It will be fine after a couple of updates perhaps but I personally do t want any software forcing me to update anything. I won an old laptop from a company lottery.

Disk

The catch was that the hard drive had been completely wiped. However, this disc got me up and running in no time. Just remember to set your BIOS to 'boot from disc' first. The disc installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (all Win7 versions are included, 32 & 64 bit - you pick) easily and quickly. This disc does not include a product key; you must provide your own key. In my case, the Windows 7 product key was located under the battery.

After Windows installed, I opened the disc again, and installed the network drivers from the app on the disc (I forgot the file name, but it's the dark colored icon). That was easy too. Once I got online, I had 192 updates to download!

That took a bit of time. Yeah, I would definitely recommend. I was a devout Webroot fan until I saw a test that prompted a 'lukewarm' review of this antivirus on a website. I thought I'd give a 'free' anti-virus a try for a year and reevaluate my results. The free suite may have been sufficient, but you get what you pay for. I thought back over the time I used Webroot and how much I enjoyed it's 'silent presence' and decided to give it another try.

Windows

I'm glad I did. It leaves a very small footprint on your hard drive, scans quickly, doesn't hog resources, and is easy to customize. The only reason I chose to give it four stars is a mildly annoying 'status' box that pops up on my computer every time I turn the machine on. Otherwise, no complaints and, depending on my finances, plan on upgrading to the SecureAnywhere Complete when my renewal is.

Coming from using MacBook Pro for the past 4 years, I haven't really used windows too much. After seeing windows 8 on a family members' touch screen laptop, it just looked completely confusing. I didn't like it at all. Couldn't really navigate it well especially since I didn't really use windows 7 either.

But I decided to go ahead and get this for my new PC build because it performs better than windows 7. After using it, it only took maybe a few days to a week to get used to it.

I actually like it now. Not as annoying as it was the first time I saw it. You can tell it's built more towards touch screen computers. Only gripe I have is really just a windows thing since I'm coming from Mac. When ever I plug in a different audio output source it doesn't automatically switch over to. This is kind of a long saga, so bear with me.

Firstly, I like Windows 10. It works very well for me, and is a worthwhile upgrade from Windows 7/8/8.1 if you're getting it as a free upgrade.I built a computer, and needed Windows 10 Pro 64 for it. The cheapest price on Amazon was through an outside company (not fulfilled by Amazon), and it had fast shipping, so I ordered it.When the media arrived, I was hesitant about the physical appearance of the DVD and Certificate of Authenticity. The general rule is that the disc and COA should match up to what is on website.

It gives details about what to look for to identify fake microsoft install media. Here's what was suspect about my media:1. The DVD inner hologram appears to be a sticker attached to the DVD surface rather than embedded.
