How To Disable Pointing Stick On Dell Latitude
Click on it, and right click on Dell touch pad. Click touchpad properties. In the upper left area, there's 'Device select', click it. At the bottom, there's a check box 'Disable Touchpad / pointing stick when external usb mouse is present' Uncheck it. OK That was solved my problem. Take care Steven.

- Aug 26, 2011 - You can disable the trackstick under you mouse properties. My mind by accidentally touching the pointing stick and typing in the wrong place.

So I removed the blue roundrubber cap on the pointing stick.
Now I won't accidentally touch itwhile I type, especially around keys G, H, B, and N. Hope this low-tech tip helps others.

Disable point stick in Dell Latitude D630The D630 driver allows you to disable the point stick easily.Go to Control Panel-Mouse.Click on 'Dell Touchpad' tab.This brings up the Dell Touchpad utility.Click on 'Device Select'Then click on Pointing Stick Disable.Apply your changes.I also always click on Touchpad Settings.Then I disable Tap to Click for the touchpad.That way, when I rub the touchpad accidentally, it doesn't think I clicked the mouse button. This forces the button clicks to only come from the buttons, not touching the touchpad.Now all my irritating behavior from accidentally touching the pointing stick or touchpad is gone.
