You're thinking of the Mordians. The Korps are a funny fusion of Imperial Germans and the French Republic in WWI and are obsessed with trench based attrition warfare. They certainly do bayonet charges, but they don't march around in a bunch of line/square formations getting shot to pieces. They bumrush out of their trenches and desperately try to make it to the enemy's, with varying levels of success. Am I in bizzaro battles?

They certainly do bayonet charges, but they don't march around in a bunch of line/square formations getting shot to pieces. They bumrush out of their trenches and desperately try to make it to the enemy's, with varying levels of success. Standard weapon for the Engineer is a shotgun, in particular the, a semi-automatic shotgun perfect for clearing tunnels or trenches. And are also standard for use in close-quarters combat, as are issued to regular Guardsmen, though their shotguns do not feature bayonet lugs.

I don't recall Death Troopers using E-Webs or missiles, they look more like a lightly-equipped elite force. I think it's mostly even. I think I would put my money on the Death Korps because usually in a hundred man squad, you'll find either a guy who is wielding some sort of specialised weapon such as a plasma gun, a melta gun or a incinerator.
