I recently came in contact with a very ugly copy of Blood of Heroes, which I then discovered to use the same system of DC Heroes. As I love super hero games, I started digging more about it and learned there is still a very active following for DCH, with people saying it is still the best super hero RPG.Then I found the old Marvel Super Heroes, which also has a huge following, and a similar gospel of how it is still the best super hero RPG.So, before I throw myself into ebay-ing, I would like to know more about them than I would be able with reviews only. In special your experiences with both, and how does those games compare with more modern super heroes RPGs. Ok so i have played marvel(facerip) and mutants and masterminds so i can only compare those 2. Marvel has random and built characters.

So does mutants and masterminds. I find that with marvel you can get a dud character or a superman level character when doing random. I built aquaman without anything that makes him tolerable. My friend builds a teleporter who cant be damaged and has time control.I find that less so for mutants and masterminds.

They tend to come out balanced.As for prebuilt. You can make any character you can think of in both systems. I find mutants and masterminds harder to build in because its point buy. Marvel its choose a popular hero from marvel universe and they give you what you need. Its easy but less creative.

Finally mutants and masterminds is a d20 system. Marvel is percentage. Marvels chart is innovative and makes rolls easy as long as everyone has a chart.

I did FASERIP recently. Despite the speed and ease of making a character, I find it tends to lead to unbalanced parties. Mumen Rider hanging with One Punch Man sort of stuff. Combat can be a bit chaotic and either goes on forever or is done in two turns. If you have a player who knows how to abuse a rule or two, they will run roughshod over it.I haven't done DCH since the 80s. What I remember was that it was on a more even keel as far as character creation and party balance goes.

And the rules gave reasons for how Batman could keep up with Superman when fighting Parademons. We never got too deep into it because we were all Marvel fanboys at the time.tl:dr- I think DCH will should save you from a bunch of headaches in the long term.
